Dune producer and vice chairman of worldwide production at Legendary Entertainment Mary Parent will receive top Producers Guild of America’s (PGA) honour the 2022 David O. Selznick Achievement Award.
Parent will collect the award at the 33rd Annual Producers Guild Awards on March 19 in Los Angeles. Prior recipients include Barbara Broccoli, Gale Anne Hurd, David Heyman, Kevin Feige, and Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B.
Besides Dune, the Warner Bros/Legendary sci-fi directed by Denis Villeneuve that has grossed $397.7m worldwide, Parent’s career credits include The Revenant, Godzilla vs Kong, Noah, Pacific Rim and Enola Holmes.
PGA presidents Gail Berman and Lucy Fisher noted Parent’s “trailblazing career” and said, “Her vision for a strong global theatrical market and a future of films filled with grand visuals and imaginative stories creates an optimistic and exciting picture of what’s next[.]”
Parent has actively been involved in films that have grossed more than $20bn at the global box office. Prior to joining Legendary she was founder and CEO of Disruption Entertainment and before that served as vice chairman of worldwide production at Universal Pictures and was chairman of MGM. She co-founded Stuber/Parent.
