Paris-based company mk2 films is reporting EFM brisk business on Singapore director Eric Khoo’s Ramen Shop which premiered in the Berlinale’s Culinary Cinema section last week.
Following its festival screening last Thursday (Feb 22) a flurry of fresh deals was signed for Sweden (Folkets bio), Norway (As Fidalgo), Austria (Film Laden), Poland (Aurora), Turkey (Filma), Israel (New Cinema) and the Czech Republic (Aero Films).
These sales join deals to Spain (Avalon), Benelux (Imagine), Switzerland (Filmcoopi), Hungary (Cirko), South Korea (Company L), Taiwan (Moviecloud), Brazil (Imovision), Colombia & Regional Pay TV (Cineplex) and Mexico (Cine y Video), which were announced at the beginning of the EFM.
“We’re thrilled with the response from buyers to this heart-warming story of food and family about a young Japanese ramen chef in search of his Singaporean roots,” said Juliette Schrameck, managing director of mk2 films.
Japanese actor and model Takumi Saito stars as a young Japanese chef who embarks on a culinary journey to Singapore to learn more about the mother who died when he was 10.
The film is co-produced by Khoo’s Zhao Wei Films, Wild Orange Artists, Version Originale Sous-titrée and Comme des Cinémas.
