Elisabeth Moss will star in Daina Reid’s ghost horror thriller Run Rabbit Run, which XYZ Films will introduce to worldwide buyers at the Cannes virtual market and is financing through its new fund alongside Screen Australia.
Carver Films, whose horror film Relic premiered at Sundance last January, is producing the story of a fertility doctor forced to question her pragmatic view of life and confront a ghost from the past when her daughter begins to act strangely.
Novellist Hannah Kent wrote the screenplay from an original idea developed with Carver Films. Anna McLeish and Sarah Shaw of Carver Films are producing, and XYZ Films serves as executive producer. Moss will also produce alongside her partner Lindsey McManus.
XYZ is making a major production investment through its fund with Finland’s IPR.VC. Run Rabbit Run is being made in association with Film Victoria and the South Australian Film Corporation.
Umbrella Entertainment handles distribution in Australia and New Zealand.
Moss is best known for her roles as June Osborne in the Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale and Peggy Olson in Mad Men. She recently starred in The Invisible Man and Her Smell and will next be seen in Wes Anderson’s 2020 Cannes Official Selection The French Dispatch, Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins, and Shirley.
Reid has directed episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale, HBO’s The Outsider, and Amazon’s Upload.
XYZ’s recent slate of sales titles include Dual starring Karen Gillan, Aaron Paul and Jesse Eisenberg, Cus And Mike with Anthony Hopkins, current release Vivarium starring Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots, and Sion Sono’s Prisoners Of The Ghostland, starring Nicolas Cage and Sofia Boutella.
