Benedict Cumberbatch, Claire Foy, Lena Headey and Thandie Newton are among British nominees for the 2018 Primetime Emmy awards.

Foy, recognised in the best drama series actress category, was one of several UK nominees from The Crown, which got 13 nominations in total. Vanessa Kirby was nominated in the drama series supporting actress category, Matt Smith in the drama series supporting actor category and Matthew Goode in the drama series guest actor category. All three are first-time nominees.
Game Of Thrones’ Headey and Westworld’s Newton were also named in the drama series supporting actress categoryand Cumberbatch got his nod for Patrick Melrose in the lead actor in a limited series or movie category.
Other British nominees were Matthew Rhys, from The Americans, in the drama series lead actor category, Joseph Fiennes, from The Handmaid’s Tale, in the drama series supporting actor group, and
British-Guyanese actress Letitia Wright, nominated in the limited series or movie supporting actress category for her performance in Black Mirror episode Black Museum. Fiennes and Wright are first-time nominees.
The 70th Emmy Awards ceremony will take place on September 17 at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, withSaturday Night Live’s Colin Jost and Michael Che serving as co-hosts.
