Two Kubrick screenplays resurrected for Downslope and God Fearing Man.
Entertainment One (eOne) have teamed up with Philco Films’ Emmy winner Steve Lanning and Philip Hobbs to develop and produce two Stanley Kubrick projects for television.
Downslope, written by Kubrick and based on a true story by Civil War historian Shelby Foote, is an epic Civil War drama which follows Confederate Army Colonel John S. Mosby, while God Fearing Man - based on a screenplay from Kubrick and adapted for television by screenwriter Stephen R. Clarke - tells the true story of Canadian minister Herbert Emerson Wilson who became a bank robber in America in the early 20th century.
Both projects will be overseen by Michael Rosenberg and Adam Blumberg on behalf of eOne, while Bill Kelman wille executive produce. eOne will handle worldwide rights to the series in all media.
Rosenberg, eOne Television’s EVP, US Scripted Television, commented: “We’re excited to be able to bring these extraordinary works to life on the small screen and to be joining forces with Philip and Steve who bring a wealth of experience and personal connection to the projects. We’re certain audiences and fans will hold a high level of expectation which we plan to deliver. This is real event television.”
eOne Television International has sold eOne’s original and third-party productions to over 500 broadcasters in 150 countries.
