European co-production fund Eurimages has promoted Irish-French executive Susan Newman Baudais to executive director, effective from March 1 last month.
Baudais has taken over from Roberto Olla, who stepped down in October 2021 after 13 years in the role to take up a gender equality role at the Council of Europe.
Baudais has worked at Eurimages since 2012. She was initially a project manager with special responsibility for first films and for the revised Council of Europe Convention on Cinematographic Co-production; and has been head of the fund’s co-production support programme since 2020.
Prior to working at the fund, she was a market researcher and analyst specializing in public funding and policy for film at the European Audiovisual Observatory.
Her experience also includes work as a producer and director for on-air promotions at ITV broadcaster Granada; and as presentation editor at Channel 4 Television.
“I look forward to building upon the work done over the last years to update the functioning of Eurimages and to collaborating closely with the Fund’s Board of Management in implementing our new project selection methods and revised governance structure,” said Baudais. “Pursuing the pioneering work done on gender equality and expanding it towards diversity will also be a priority as will the development of a green action plan.”
Eurimages has supported 2,296 co-productions since it was established in 1988, at a funding level of €655m (£552m).
