Montreal genre festival also confirms a record number of industry attendees for this year’s edition, which runs July 19-August 9.
Fantasia International Film Festival has announced a new partnership with online screening platform Festival Scope for its upcoming 16th edition, taking place in Montreal from July 19-August 9 after an extra two days were added to accommodate a record number of films.
The partnership will help to highlight projects in Fantasia’s inaugural Frontières International Co-Production Market and previous work from the filmmakers involved in Frontières. These will soon be available to participants in Fantasia’s Industry Rendez-Vous, allowing them a chance to research Frontières projects before attending this year’s market.
Festival Scope will also present a selection of films from this year’s festival programme, which will be available to view by registered Festival Scope members once the festival is over.
A total of 250 film professionals are scheduled to attend Fantasia’s Rendez-Vous, which takes place in the second weekend of the festival from July 26-29, including 84 producers, 59 filmmakers, 27 distributors, 11 sales agents and 20 festival programmers. Over the course of the Rendez-Vous, strategic meeting sessions will be held around the Frontières and Off-Frontières projects, as well as a conference series organised to assemble participants around current industry topics.
In addition to the 250 Rendez-Vous participants, over 100 filmmakers, producers and actors are slated to host their films’ premieres at this year’s Fantasia.
A record number of 150 films, including the likes of Sushi Girl, Chained [pictured], V/H/S and Wrong, are set to screen at this year’s edition, with details of the festival’s programming and schedule available from July 11.
