Erotic drama whips up huge numbers online as EL James adaptation crosses $300m at global box office.
Fifty Shades of Grey has racked up the biggest ever figures on Way To Blue’s UK movie buzz chart, beating previous record holder One Direction: This Is Us.
The S&M romance generated more than 170,000 comments from Feb 12-18 across social media, news, foums and blogs.
Nearly 25% expressed intent to view, meaning a quarter of those who commented would look to see the film, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson.
The film has raced to $311.7m worldwide after just a week on release, $29.9m of which comes from the UK box office.
Fifty Shades dwarfed the more critically acclaimed romance on release, Love Is Strange, which generated just 857 comments.
It also beat the previous buzz record holder, boy band documentary One Direction: This Is Us, which generated close to 160,000 comments.
