FilmMcQueen and Marteau Films are to partner on Slate and Kelly, a thriller comedy to be shot in Paris.
The film centres on LAPD officers Slate and Kelly who team up in Paris to take on a serial killer of drag queens.
It marks the second feature of writer-director Jane Clark, who co-owns US production outfit FilmMcQueen. Her debut film, Meth Head, starred Tom Sizemore and is set to premiere in March at the DC Independent Film Festival.
Producer Gautier Cazenave, of Paris-based Marteau Films, will be discussing Slate and Kelly at next month’s European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin.
The projected budget is $2.2m. Producers are Clark, Cazenave, Jean-Noël Georgel and John W. McLaughlin.
Wilson Cruz, best known for his roles in US TV series My So Called Life and Party of Five, is being pursued for the lead role of Kelly. Candis Cayne, who played a transgender role in US TV drama Dirty Sexy Money, is attached. Both Cayne and Cruz feature in Meth Head.
A US actress is set to be cast for the role of Slate along with the French supporting cast.
