Four streaming platforms from Central and Eastern Europe have joined forces to bring European cinema to their audiences via a service called CEEYou.
New Horizons VOD (Poland), KVIFF.TV (Czech Republic and Slovakia), Cinego (Hungary) and TIFF Unlimited (Romania) have launched the service with films from directors including Michael Haneke, Agnès Varda, Eric Rohmer and Olivier Assayas. CEEYou will be available on each of the existing platforms.
“Creating the CEEYou network gives us an opportunity to expand our offer and promote our content through cross-border promotional campaigns,” said the platforms. “These collaborative efforts will enable the network to develop and grow stronger, both regionally and internationally.”
Each platform will tailor how and when they stream the films individually. For example, New Horizons VOD is premiering all the titles scheduled for the network this year since it went live on October 13.
This initial line-up ranges from retrospectives of Agnès Varda and Michael Haneke through films by Olivier Assayas and Claire Denis to Yorgos Lanthimos’ Dogtooth and Nicolas Philibert’s documentary To Be And To Have.
Meanwhile, the other partners in the network - KVIFF.TV, Cinego and TIFF Unlimited - will be releasing the films in batches, starting with the Varda and Haneke collections.
Over the next two years, the network, which has received funding from the European Union’s Creative Media Programme, will feature more retrospectives of works by European directors as well as niche, local films from the four partner’s territories.
