Organisation beat celebrity chef Jamie Oliver at fourth Annual Britweek UKTI Business Innovation Awards.
Films Without Borders has won the BritWeek Innovation in Philanthropy Award at the fourth annual Britweek UKTI Business Innovation Awards in Los Angeles.
The organisation, founded by documentary and film-maker Jill Samuels in 2010 beat UK celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and the Silicon Valley Internship Programme in the category.
The winners were announced at an awards dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in LA on April 24.
Speaking before the awards, Samuels said: “Films Without Borders is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to teach young people living in challenging countries basic filmmaking skills. This opens the door to a new career path, one which would otherwise not be easily accessible to them.”
Films Without Borders launched in 2010 to give young people living in challenging circumstances around the world the opportunity to explore the art of filmmaking. Some of these shorts have been screened at international film festivals such as Cannes.
