Seoul-based sales agents Finecut and M-Line Distribution have each picked up Korean directorial debut features set to premiere at the Jeonju International Film Festival (April 28-May 7).
Finecut has boarded international sales for director Lee Soon-sung’s feature debut My Perfect Roommate – aka Room Sharing – starring Na Moon-hee, best known for comedy-drama hits such as I Can Speak and Miss Granny.
Choi Woo-sung (TV’s It’s Okay To Not Be Okay) plays a college boy who ends up sharing a house with a cranky old lady who has lived alone all her life. The film is produced by TS Narincinema.
M-Line Distribution has picked up sales rights to Good Morning, Cha Bong-ju’s first feature as a director. Starring Kim Hwan-hee (The Wailing), You Sun (The Himalayas) and Lee Soon-jae (Romang), the drama centres on a high school girl who grew up in an orphanage.
When she decides to commit suicide, a hospice nurse stops her telling her she will let her know how to die properly - and introduces her to the various patients under her care. D-Station has the film set for local release on May 25.
Both features will screen in the Korean Cinema strand of the 23rd Jeonju IFF, which is set to open tomorrow (April 28) in the southwestern part of the Republic of Korea. The festival of independent, alternative and arthouse films will screen 217 films from 57 countries with four international premieres and 61 world premieres – the latter of which include My Perfect Roommate and Good Morning.
