Taneli Mustonen’s English-language horror The Twin has secured two further European sales deals, as principal photography has completed in Estonia and Finland.
Leonine Studios and Mediawan jointly acquired the film for German-speaking and French-speaking territories respectively, from sales agent Film Constellation.
The deal marks the first time the companies have jointly acquired a film since Paris-based Mediawan purchased a stake in Germany’s Leonine in 2020.
Finnish production company Don Films has also released a first image of Teresa Palmer in the film.
Palmer stars as a young mother plagued by the violent death of one of her twins. Steven Cree and Barbara Marten appear alongside Palmer on the cast.
As revealed by Screen, the film launched sales at the European Film Market in March; it will screen first footage at the Marché du Film in Cannes next month (July 6-15).
Streaming service Shudder previously acquired rights for the US, Canada, UK and Ireland, and Australia and New Zealand, and will release on its own platform later this year.
The film is written by Mustonen and Aleksi Hyvärinen, and produced by Hyvärinen for Don Films.
Joris van Wijk is executive producer along with Shudder’s Emily Gotto, Film Constellation’s Fabien Westerhoff and Post Control Helsinki’s Toni Valla.
