Production has wrapped on Kevin Lewis’ independent US-UK horror Oak, which GFM Film Sales has boarded ahead of Cannes.
First footage of the film will be available in at the market; Screen can reveal a first look at the film above.
Oak is produced by George Lee and Marcus Englefield for the Blood Red Films and Ryan Smith for Thomasville Pictures, both from the US. Executive producers are Kevin Lewis, Jeremy Ross and Fred Hedman of the UK’s Evolution Pictures; financing comes from Head Gear Films, Thomasville and Storyoscopic Films.
Oak tells the legend of a curse placed upon an old oak tree. When a group of teenagers dare each other to touch the tree, one of the group disappears and another gets a rash on her palm; leading to a battle for survival.
Joey Lauren Adams leads the cast, alongside Armand Assante, Catharine Daddario, Hudson Thames, MaeMae Renfrow, Sierra Nowak and Korin Stewart.
Blood Red, Storyoscopic, Evolution and GFM Film Sales recently collaborated on The Accursed starring Mena Suvari, which is currently in post-production.
“Oak is a chilling survival piece that will entertain horror fans and moviegoers alike,” said Hedman, who is also director at GFM Film Sales.
