Screen can unveil the first look at Oscar-nominated actress Sally Hawkins in Craig Robert’s upcoming comedy-drama Eternal Beauty.
Hawkins plays Jane who, after being rejected by life, spirals into a chaotic, schizophrenic world, where love and normality collide. Also starring are Alice Lowe, David Thewlis, Billie Piper, and Penelope Wilton.
Bankside is handling international sales and is screening a promo to buyers at this week’s European Film Market. The company is co-representing US with Endeavour Content.
The film shot on location in Wales last year and is now in post-production. Adrian Bate produced through his and Roberts’ Cliff Edge Pictures banner. Roberts is an executive producer, as are Mary Burke for the BFI, Adam Partridge for Ffilm Cymru Wales, Emma Duffy for Wellcome and Paul Higgins. Backing came from the Welsh Government, the BFI, Ffilm Cymru Wales and Wellcome.
Director Roberts is known for his acting roles in Submarine and Amazon series Red Oaks; he has also been cast in the upcoming Tolkien feature for Fox Searchlight. His debut feature as a director was Just Jim, which starred Roberts with Emile Hirsch and premiered at SXSW in 2015.
Eternal Beauty is set to be Hawkins’ first lead role since her Oscar nomination for The Shape Of Water.
