In what is certain to draw buyers at AFM, The Veterans is launching international sales on The Pack, a psychological thriller with darkly comedic elements that marks the feature directing debut of Alexander Skarsgard who will star alongside Florence Pugh.
Jennifer Fox (Michael Clayton, Nightcrawler) is producing and Rose Gilroy (Project Artemis) wrote the screenplay.
Production is scheduled to start in March on The Pack, which follows a documentary crew who reunite at a prestigious awards show at New York’s Lincoln Center following an arduous expedition to Alaska to save a near-extinct species of wolf.
At the ceremony, tensions flare as a secret threatens to unravel their work. The parties did not specifiy where production on The Pack will take place.
30WEST is financing and will serve as executive producers. CAA Media Finance and 30WEST jointly represent US rights.
Pugh, one of the most in-demand stars working today, stars in Netflix’s The Wonder and New Line’s Don’t Worry Darling. Her credits include Midsommar and Lady Macbeth and she has Dune: Part Two and Oppenheimer coming up.
Skarsgard was seen earlier this year in the starring role in Focus Features’ The Northman and his small screen roles include TV smashes Succession and Big Little Lies. He has starred in The Legend Of Tarzan and The Little Drummer Girl, among others.
In a director’s statement Skarsgard said, “Homo Homini Lupus. ‘A Man is a wolf to another man.’ My humble ambition with this film is to prove this ancient Latin proverb incorrect. a man is not like a wolf, he’s way worse. Wolves don’t lie, cheat and manipulate like we do.”
