Focus Features and Working Title have set a September 22 theatrical release date for Ethan Coen’s comedy caper and feature directing debut and have revealed the title is Drive-Away Dolls.
Coen directed from a screenplay he co-wrote and produced with his wife, Tricia Cooke. Margaret Qualley (pictured), Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, Pedro Pascal, Colman Domingo, Bill Camp and Matt Damon star.
Drive-Away Dolls follows a free-spirited young woman bemoaning yet another break-up with a girlfriend who embarks on a road trip with her uptight friend to Tallahassee in search of a fresh start. Things go wrong when they encounter inept criminals.
Producing alongside Coen and Cooke are Robert Graf, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. Universal Pictures International handles international distribution.
Coen is renowned as one-half of the Oscar-winning Coen Brothers alongside Joel Coen, whose own feature directing debut The Tragedy Of Macbeth came out in late 2021.
The brothers’ co-directing and co-writing credits include The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men, Fargo, and O Brother, Where Art Thou?, among many others.
