Disney animation Frozen 2 has landed the second-highest opening week of digital download sales ever in the UK, as audiences turn to home entertainment during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The animated sequel recorded 218,700 digital downloads in its first week, topped only by Avengers: Endgame, which had 335,400 in August 2019, according to th Official Charts Company.
The strong performance follows the closure of all cinemas in the UK, in a bid to slow the spread of coronavirus, while the nation has been on total lockdown since Monday (March 23) with people told not to leave their homes except where absolutely necessary.
It has also seen streaming platforms, including Curzon Home Cinema and MUBI, report record figures and the early digital release of films, such as Military Wives, as audiences seek out entertainment from home.
