Irish dark comedy Redemption Of A Rogue has secured distribution deals for the US and Australia and New Zealand.
Limelight Distribution has acquired the film for Australia and New Zealand, with a theatrical release in the works for later this year, while Gravitas Ventures has picked it up for an immediate VoD release on major platforms in the US.
The debut feature of playwright Philip Doherty, the film centres on a man stuck in a Groundhog Day-like purgatory, who embarks on a sacrificial journey to rid himself of his guilt and shame from the past.
It won both best Irish film and best first film at Galway Film Fleadh in 2020 – the first film to win both prizes since 2013.
The film was produced for just €45,000 (£37,500) by Emma Foley and Tamryn Reinecke of Ireland’s Pale Rebel Productions, which is also conducting the sales deals. Previously announced deals include a UK-Ireland deal for theatrical and VoD with Netflix and Sky.
