The Miami Film Festival GEMS event has unveiled a lineup including Glass Onion, Women Talking, The Whale and The Fabelmans for its November 3-10 run.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will open the event and its cast, which includes Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe and Kathryn Hahn, will be presented with the festival’s inaugural Ensemble Award.
Sarah Polley’s Women Talking and Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale will be the event’s Centerpiece Screenings and Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans will be the closing night film. In a virtual presentation, Fabelmans star Paul Dano will receive Miami’s Precious Gem Award.
Noah Baumbach’s White Noise and Maria Schrader’s She Said will be among the line-up’s special screenings.
GEMS is one of two events staged annually by Miami Dade College, with the main Miami Film Festival taking place each March. The GEMS lineup includes films from 13 countries, among them five of the submissions for this year’s international film Oscar: Spain’s Alcarràs, Belgium’s Close, Austria’s Corsage, South Korea’s Decision to Leave, Denmark’s Holy Spider, Ireland’s The Quiet Girl and France’s Saint Omer.
