Hanno Olderdissen’s Lassie - New Adventure has sold in key territories for Global Screen ahead of the European Film Market. Deals completed on the eve of the EFM include to Lucky Red (Italy), AB Svensk Filmindustri (Scandinavia), Kino Swiat (Poland), and Film House (Israel).
The film is Global Screen’s follow-up to its 2020 hit, Lassie Come Home, that grossed $2.4m at the German box office. This story is about the friendship between a boy and his dog and the new adventure sees Lassie investigating the mysterious disappearance of several pedigree dogs with the help of best friend Flo and new companions Henri, Kleo and little Pippa, a Jack Russell terrier.
It will be released in German cinemas in July 2023 by Leonine which also served as a co-producer on the film.
This is the latest in a long line of Lassie movies inspired by Eric Knight’s 1940 children’s novel, which stretches back to the 1943 MGM version of Lassie Come Home starring Roddy McDowell and featuring Elizabeth Taylor in one of her first screen roles.
Lassie- A New Adventure is produced by LCH 2 Film in co-production with Leonine Studios, Henning Ferber Filmproduktion and LCH Film.
Global Screen is showing a promo reel and trailer of the film during the EFM.
