Guy Ritchie and Miramax are reuniting on the spy thriller Five Eyes starring Jason Statham, which STXinternational will introduce to TIFF buyers next week.
STXfilms holds worldwide rights and will distribute directly in the UK and Ireland. The company sold Miramax and Ritchie’sThe Gentlemen, which grossed $115m worldwide.
Principal photography is set to commence in Europe in October. Ritchie will direct and produce from a screenplay by Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies (The Gentlemen, Wrath Of Man), with revisions by Ritchie.
Miramax is fully financing the film and Bill Block serves as producer with Atkinson.
Statham stars in Five Eyes as a British agent recruited by a global intelligence alliance known as Five Eyes to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world order.
Paired with CIA high-tech expert, he sets off on a globe-trotting mission to track down a notorious arms broker.
CAA Media Finance arranged financing and brokered the US, UK, and Ireland distribution deal.
