UK outfit HanWay Films will commence sales at the European Film Market on Breaking Point, a feature set in the world of breakdancing and directed by the filmmakers behind StreetDance 2 and StreetDance 3D, Dania Pasquini and Max Giwa.
HanWay will represent worldwide sales, excluding UK and Germany, where Sky has retained the rights.
It is the first of a two-parter, and follows two sisters’ rise through the ranks of the British team try-outs, for the chance to compete on the world stage at the London World Championships, and possibly beyond to the Olympics in 2024, when breakdancing will make its debut at the games.
The title is a Future Artists Entertainment production, funded by Sky and Ingenious. The script was developed by Sky, Red Bull Studios and Future Artists Entertainment. It was written by Sally Collett, based on the story by Rachel Hirons. Production begins in April.
The cast will include top UK breakdancers Kid Karam and Roxy and German breakdancer Jilou. The dance scenes will be choreographed by StreetDance 2 alumni, Niek Traa.
