HanWay Films will launch worldwide sales on the Croisette next month on Jerzy Skolimowski’s Cannes Competition selection Eo presented by Skopia Film and HanWay founder Jeremy Thomas.
The feature, which was announced in the Cannes line-up today, presents a vision of modern Europe through the eyes of a donkey who encounters on his journeys good and bad people, experiences joy and pain, and feels the wheels of fate crushing his innocence.
Ewa Piaskowska and Skolimowski co-wrote Eo, which stars Sandra Drzymalska, Isabelle Huppert, Lorenzo Zurzolo and Mateusz Kosciukiewicz and is produced by Piaskowska, Skolimowski and Eileen Tasca.
Thomas serves as executive producer and is a longtime collaborator with the Polish-born director dating back to when he produced Skolimowski’s second film, 1978 Cannes grand prix winner The Shout.
Thomas also served as executive producer on the director’s Essential Killing, which won the 2010 Venice Film Festival special jury prize and Coppa Volpi best actor winner (for Vincent Gallo), and 2015 Venice Competition entry 11 Minutes.
The HanWay sales slate includes Kitty Green’s The Royal Hotel, Justin Kurzel’s Morning, Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s Hot Milk, rising director Leo Leigh’s Sweet Sue, Breaking Point from Dania Pasquini and Max Giwa, and Václav Marhoul’s EFM sales hit McCarthy.
