The San Sebastian Film Festival (Sept 22-30) has unveiled the 14 titles that will compete in its Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section.

The strand, competitive since last year, will open with Ruben Ostlund’s Cannes Palme d’Or winner The Square.

Also selected are the latest works from Hong Sang-soo, Frederick Wiseman, Manuel Abramovich, Filipa César, Raymond Depardon, Damien Manivel and Kohei Igarashi and Ilian Metev.

Wiseman’s film, Ex Libris: New York Public Library, is a chronicle of the famous titular US institution. The documentary will premiere at the Venice Film Festival where it will contend for the Golden Lion. Doc & Film is handling sales.

Hong Sang-soo’s film, The Day After, premiered at Cannes Film Festival in Competition.

Screen’s review called it an ”archetypal Hong Sangsoo film”.
