Organisers at the Brooklyn event have broadened the public programming remit and will present the Screen Forward Conference, screenings, VR experiences and free community events.
“IFP has always had a reputation industry-wide as a place of discovery,” said IFP executive director Joana Vicente.
“Now, with IFP Film Week in Brooklyn, we welcome all New York audiences to come and discover the new ideas, new artists, digital pioneers, and experience all our talented and diverse community has to offer.”
Public programmes will run from September 17-22 in and around IFP’s headquarters, Made in NY Media Center by IFP in DUMBO, Brooklyn, under the leadership of head of programming Amy Dotson, produced by Erik Luers, Annie Malarkey and gallery manager Tom Rotenberg.
The IFP Screen Forward Conference will start the week and features talks with Citizenfour director Laura Poitras and actress and activist Rose McGowan, as well as the creators of Hamilton, Weiner and The Witch.
VR, AR and immersive storytelling work comes from United Nations VR’s Gabo Arora, Felix & Paul, Lance Weiler and Mike Woods.
Programming includes discussions on the rise of short-form content and a rare opportunity for members of the public to meet decision-makers at Amazon Studios, HBO and dozens of other entertainment companies.
