Avengers: Infinity War, Christopher Robin, Ready Player One, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Welcome To Marwen have earned nominations in the Visual Effects Society’s (VES) outstanding effects in a photoreal feature category;
Infinity War earned the most feature nods on Tuesday morning (15) with six, while Incredibles 2 is the lead animated film contender on five, and Lost In Space leads the broadcast field on six.
The 17th Annual VES Awards will take place on February 5 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. As previously announced, the VES Visionary Award will be presented to Jonathan Nolan, and the VES Award for Creative Excellence to Game Of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
“The artistry, ingenuity and passion of visual effects practitioners around the world have come together to create truly remarkable imagery in a variety of media,” said VES chair Mike Chambers. “We are seeing best in class work that elevates the art of storytelling and engages the audience in new and innovative ways. The VES Awards is the only venue that showcases and honors these outstanding artists across a wide range of disciplines, and we are extremely proud of all our nominees!”
