Capstone Global will launch sales in Cannes next week on the action thriller Breathe from Capstone and Thunder Road starring Jennifer Hudson, Milla Jovovich, Sam Worthington, Quvenzhané Wallis and Common.
Stefon Bristol will direct from the Black List screenplay by Doug Simon. Production is scheduled to start this summer in Pennsylvania on the story, which takes place after Earth is left uninhabitable due to lack of oxygen.
Hudson (Dreamgirls, Respect) plays a woman forced to live underground with her daughter (Wallis, Beasts Of The Southern Wild) and make short trips to the surface in a state-of-the-art oxygen suit made her husband (Common, Wanted, Suicide Squad) whom she presumes to be dead. When a mysterious couple arrives claiming to know the fate of her husband the woman lets them into their bunker – but are they all they appear to be?
Jovovich is known for her lead role in the Resident Evil franchise. Worthington will be seen in Avatar 2 later this year and stars in FX series Under The Banner Of Heaven.
Thunder Road Films’ Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, and Capstone’s Christian Mercuri are producing. Capstone’s Ruzanna Kegeyan serves as executive producer alongside David Haring, Esther Hornstein and Will Flynn. Capstone Studios will finance alongside Thunder Road.
CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group helped arrange financing for the film and will jointly represent US rights alongside Capstone.
