Amazon Studios head of comedy and drama develpoment Joe Lewis has left the company and segued into a producing deal in another key departure at the streaming platform.
Lewis, who oversaw development on two of Amazon Studios’ most acclaimed shows Transparent and Mozart In The Jungle, departed although no official reason was given.
A WSJ report earlier in the month claimed Lewis pressured producers on The Tick to cast his girlfriend Yara Martinez on the show, something the producers refuted. She went from being a guest star on the pilot to having a regular role.
Roy Price, the former head of Amazon Studios who departed over sexual harassment allegations, hired Lewis back in 2012.
Lewis work alongside Price on a show Amazon Studios was developing, Shanghai Snow, which reportedly alarmed writers, who claimed it was misogynistic in tone.
Sharon Tal Yguado has replaced Lewis as head of scripted series at the company and reports to Amazon Studios COO and interim head Albert Cheng.
Earier in October Morgan Wandell, who led Amazon Studios’ interntional operations, left the company for Apple.
