EXCLUSIVE: Alice Lowe’s debut as a director recently opened Venice’s Critics’ Week.

Prevenge

UK based Kaleidoscope Film Distribution has picked up all rights (excluding North America) for Alice Lowe’s directorial debut Prevenge, which plays in Toronto in Vanguard from Monday (Sept 12), from co-reps XYZ and ICM.

The comedy-horror, which opened Venice’s Critics’ Week, follows a pregnant woman who goes on killing spree. The film was produced by Western Edge Pictures for the Gennaker Group.

Sightseers actress Lowe also wrote the screenplay and plays the lead. Kate Dickie (The Witch) co-stars with Gemma Whelan (The Wolfman), Jo Hartley (Eddie The Eagle), Tom Davis (Free Fire) and Kayvan Novak (Paddington).

The deal was negotiated by Spencer Pollard of KFD, Nate Bolotin for XYZ, Peter Van Steemburg of ICM with producer Vaughan Sivell of Western Edge.

Kaleidoscope will also release in the UK in 2017. The film’s UK bow is locked for the BFI London Film Festival in October.

XYZ and ICM are representing North American rights.

Alice Lowe was the recent recipient of the inaugural Screen Horror Rising Star award at the 2016 edition of FrightFest.
