Kaleidoscope secures UK distribution rights for Karen Gillan rom-com Not Another Happy Ending and sets release date.

Kaleidoscope Entertainment has acquired UK distribution rights for Glasgow-set romantic comedy Not Another Happy Ending. The film, which stars Doctor Who’s Karen Gillan, closed this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF).

Alongside Gillan, who will next be seen in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, are Stanley Weber, Amy Manson, Iain de Caestecker, Kate Dickie, Freya Mavor, Gary Lewis and Henry Ian Cusick.

Directed by John McKay (We’ll Take Manhattan), it was produced by Claire Mundell of Synchronicity Films, co-produced by Wendy Griffin and written by David Solomons.

The feature was backed by British Film Company, Creative Scotland and BBC Scotland.

Set in Glasgow, Gillan stars as successful author Jane Lockhart in the midst of writers block. Her publisher, played by Weber, has to make her miserable to rekindle her creative fire. But the worse he makes her feel, the more he falls in love with her.

The film is set for release in the UK on Oct 11, followed by a DVD release in early 2014.
