Kevin Macdonald has started shooting his untitled John Galliano documentary and will be in Cannes with the Newen Connect – TF1 Studios sales team to introduce the feature to international buyers on the Croisette later this month.
The feature about the controversial UK fashion designer is produced by France’s TF1 Studio, the film production and distriibution strand of Newen Studios, and Macdonald. It is fully financed by TF1 Studio with Anton. Condé Nast Entertainment also serves as producer.
TF1 Studio is under the umbrella of distribution entity Newen Connect of the pan-European production company Newen Group, which in turn is part of the French media holding company TF1 Group.
Galliano, who was born in Gibraltar, has headed French fashion houses Givenchy and Christian Dior and is creative director of Maison Margiela.
UK director Macdonald’s previous credits include feature documentaries Oscar winner One Day In September, Marley and Whitney.
