Korean action-thriller Project Wolf Hunting has been sold in Asia, Europe and North America ahead of its world premiere in Toronto’s Midnight Madness strand.
Seoul-based sales agent Finecut has closed deals in Taiwan (Moviecloud), India (Multivision Multimedia), Thailand (Sahamongkolfilm International Company) and Japan (The Klockworx). The film has also sold to Well Go USA for North America and A Contracorriente Films for Spain.
The film is written and directed by Kim Hongsun, whose credits include horror Metamorphosis and crime thrillers The Chase and The Con Artists.
Produced by Contents G and Cheum Film, Project Wolf Hunting is set aboard a cargo ship, which being used to transport dangerous criminals from the Philippines to Busan in South Korea. An escape attempt leads to a riot which in turn unleashes a sinister force.
The cast includes Seo In-guk (Pipeline) and Jang Dong-yoon (TV series Search) with veteran actors Choi Guyhwa and Sung Dong-il.
It will premiere at midnight on September 16 at TIFF ahead of opening in South Korea, distributed by The Contents On, on September 21. A release in North America is set for October 7.
The feature will go on to play in competition at France’s L’Étrange Festival, Fantastic Fest in Austin, Beyond Fest in Los Angeles, Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival and San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival.
