AMC Networks’ Sundance Now has struck a deal with LevelK for all North American rights for Tale of a Lake.
Tale of a Lake is directed by Marko Röhr and Kim Saarniluoto and produced by Marko Röhr for MRP Matila Röhr Productions with backing from The Finnish Film Foundation, YLE, and Creative Europe.
The film is screening in competition at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, which is running now through Sept 29.
Director and producer Marko Röhr and DoP Teemu Liakka are attending the festival.
AMC Networks’ Sundance Now plans to launch the documentary on Dec 21.
Tale of a Lake, the sequel to 2012’s Tale of a Forest, is a nature documentary set in Finland’s thousands of lakes, also exploring myths, legends and old beliefs found in Finnish mythology
Nordisk released in Finland to notable box-office success, clocking in as the best-performing local documentary ever in Finland.
The film has now sold to more than 30 countries including China, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Austria and Hungary.
