Samuel L. Jackson thriller is Bavariapool’s first international co-production.
Lionsgate has secured US rights for the Samuel L. Jackson thriller Reasonable Doubt, which will be sold internationally by Voltage Pictures.
Directed by Peter Howitt (Johnny English) from a screenplay by Peter A. Dowling (Flight Plan), the film also stars Dominic Cooper (Captain America) and Gloria Reuben (Lincoln).
Reasonable Doubt was shot over 27 days in Nov/Dec at locations in Winnipeg and Chicago.
The $8m German-Canadian co-production is the first international project of Bavariapool International Coproductions (BIC) with Canada’s South Creek Pictures and the USA’s Paradox Entertainment.
eOne has acquired Canadian rights and Wild Bunch Germany the German rights to the film, which is scheduled for release at the end of 2013.
BIC was established in 2008 by Bavaria Film and Telepool subsidiary Europool Europäische Medien Beteiligungs GmbH to become involved in large-scale international co-productions for television and the cinema.
Bavaria Film and Telepool both have common shareholders in broadcasters Bayerischer Rundfunk, Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk/Drefa and SWR Holding and launched another joint venture in January 2012 with sales outfit Global Screen GmbH, which handles the worldwide distribution of cinema and television programmes outside German-speaking European territories.
