Silver Reel to finance action film based on Andy McNab novel as further pre-sales are secured.
Lionsgate UK has picked up distribution rights to SAS: Red Notice, the action thriller set to set Luke Evans (Dracula Untold, The Hobbit).
In addition, Silver Reel Partners - the Zurich-based film financier that has put money into Under the Skin and the upcoming Maggie and A Hologram For the King - has come aboard to finance the film, which is based on an Andy McNab novel.
As previously annouced, SquareOne Entertainment has distribution rights for German-speaking territories but other presales include Odeon for Greece, Pt Amero for Indonesia, Sahamongkol for Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, Silverline for the Philippines, Gulf for pan Middle East, and D Production for Turkey.
The film will start shooting on April 13 in London, Paris and Budapest with Hungarian production company Pioneer Stillking Films.
Nick Love (The Sweeney) directs from a screenplay by Laurence Malkin and Chad Thumann (Five Fingers) based on the best-selling novel by former SAS operator and leading author McNab, who will also be an executive producer.
It marks the first feature film based on one of McNab’s books as well as the first in the Tom Buckingham franchise, which has already seen two bestselling entries with a third due out this spring.

Claudia Bluemhuber and Ian Hutchinson will executive produce on behalf of Silver Reel.
Executive producers also include Mike Runagall, Andy Mayson, Jack Drewe and for Lionsgate, Zygi Kamasa. Daniel Findlay and Louise Killin will co-produce.
Altitude Film Sales will partner with WME Global on the U.S. rights.
SAS: Red Notice is set in the Channel Tunnel, where 100 meters underground 20 accused war criminals hold 400 hostages.
