The fourth edition of Carte Blanche, the Locarno Film Festival’s initiative dedicated to films in post-production, will focus on Brazil.
Carte Blanche, in partnership with Cinema do Brasil, will select five to seven films in post-production.
The producers of the selected films will participate at the Locarno Festival, where they will present their projects to film industry professionals.
In order to facilitate post-production and sales, the works in progress will be screened to sales companies, buyers, festival programmers and film funding organizations who are attending Locarno during the Industry Days (Aug 9-11, 2014).
A jury composed of film industry professionals will award a prize of $11,000 (10,000 CHF) to the best film.
The initiative, inaugurated in 2011, is intended to showcase a selection of films in post-production. Previous editions have been dedicated to Colombia, Mexico and Chile.
The initiative is supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
The Festival del film Locarno and Cinema do Brasil will launch the call for entries in the first half of 2014 and the selected films will be announced in July.
The 67th Locarno Film Festival will run Aug 6-16, 2014.
