After a two-year, Covid-enforced hiatus, Film London confirmed that its London Screenings event, the only export market dedicated to UK film, will take place from June 20-23 at Picturehouse Central.
This year’s London Screenings, for which international buyers come to London to view titles, meet UK-based sales companies and negotiate deals, will introduce new initiatives.
Among them, the Breakthrough Strand, which launches new talent to the market, has been expanded this year to include documentaries as part of a new partnership with BFI Doc Society. The BFI will also present a selection of work-in-progress titles to bring new UK projects to the attention of buyers and festival programmers.
London Screenings is funded and supported by the BFI, Mayor of London, Film Export UK and the Department for International Trade. In 2019, more than 160 international buyers and 95 sales agent participated, while the event reported $8.38m in business.
The Breakthrough Strand ran as a standalone online event in 2020 and 2021.
