London-based company is expanding its digital media services.
Digital distribution services provider JCA will invest £600k in expanding its digital media services.
The London-based company specialises in providing a variety of media storage and distribution solutions, including film restoration, video encoding/transcoding and digital asset management platform servicing. JCA specialises in digital file formats, HD and SD tape formats, as well as digital delivery workflows and digital distribution.
The company will increase capacity across all areas with an increase in storage and transcoding farms for automated versioning and delivery. JCA will also further develop its file to tape services, for which there has been an increase in demand despite the increasing dominance of digital workflows.
Simon Kay [pictured], managing director at JCA, said: “The way content is distributed continues to evolve at a frantic pace. A rise in demand for our digital distribution services, coupled with our organic growth, meant that a further investment into the technology our experts use was logical. By expanding our capacity we can continue to offer our clients the most advanced and efficient service possible. We are now looking forward to the next stages in our expansion to ensure growth is maintained.”
JCA’s improved hardware set-up will include HDCAm SR Decks, increased standards conversion capacity via an Alchemist Platinum HD, XDCam, further PF Clean licenses and Apple Mac workstations. The company is also expanding its quality control facilities and is offering HD/SD Harding (photosensitive epilepsy check) in the file and tape domains.
To match the investment in technology, JCA has expanded added eight new members to its technical and operational teams since the start of 2012.
JCA sees the next phase of its expansion in more shared storage and expanding into additional premises.
