Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s Long Live Brij Mohan will open the 2017 South Asian International Film Festival presented by HBO that runs at the Landmark Sunshine Theatre in New York City from December 13-17.
Rakhee Sandilya’s Ribbon will close the festival and Nabeel Qureshi’s Na Maloom Afraad 2 is the Centerpiece Film.
World premieres comprise more than 50% of the line-up, with North American premieres accounting for more than 25%. There are three New York premieres and one international premiere.
The 14th annual festival is scheduled to feature interactive workshops and networking opportunities for industry professionals.
Other features on the roster include Harish Vyas’ In English We Say, Danish Renzu’s Half Widow, and Avi Vasu’s Coma Café. Short films and HBO competitors to be presented include Kartikye Gupta’s Please Don’t Call The Cops, Sydney Chandrasekara’s Cobbler’s Dream, and Shetu Modi’s The Pits.
