EXCLUSIVE: On the heels of Busan’s Asian Film Market, German sales company M-appeal has secured a deal in France for Colette Bothof’s coming-of-age romance Summer.

Set in a village dominated by the humming of a power plant, Summer follows two misfit girls as they fall in love.

M-Appeal, which launched the title at the Cannes Marche earlier this year, said they were in long discussions with France’s Outplay and finally signed in Busan.

Outplay’s Thibaut Fougeres said they were “very happy to release this heart-warming story of two young girls in France”.

The Dutch film is produced by De Productie. Bothof’s previous work includes Golden Calf-awarded Black Swans.
