O’Brien appointed to the newly-created position of executive vice president, corporate development.
Darren Throop, president and CEO of Entertainment One (eOne), has announced the appointment of Margaret O’Brien to executive vice president, corporate development.
The newly-created position will see O’Brien responsible for overseeing the company’s M&A activities across the Group. O’Brien joined eOne in September 2008 when the company acquired Barna-Alper Productions and is currently president, Canada & chief operating officer for eOne Television.
Most recently, O’Brien successfully closed eOne’s deal with leading interactive agency Secret Location, securing an equity stake in the business and new digital content development opportunities for eOne.
Throop commented: “Margaret will bring her extensive experience in television and her M&A expertise to source and drive strategic growth initiatives for the Group.”
“I believe this is a great opportunity as we prepare to double the size our business over the next several years. eOne has enjoyed a remarkable evolution and transformation, and my goal is to help the Group build on that success through new partnerships and acquisitions on a global basis,” added O’Brien.
O’Brien will report directly to Throop and continue to be based in Toronto, where she will continue to work on her existing television responsibilities as the company seeks a new head for its television business in Canada.
