Denmark’s Sam Productions and Meta Film, the companies headed by CEO Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen, are expanding into Sweden.
Maria Dahlin will spearhead the Swedish business, as SAM and Meta ramp up their investments in Swedish features and series.
Sam Productions’ owners are Søren Sveistrup, Adam Price and Studiocanal.
“Søren, Adam and I have a sincere deep love for Swedish stories; I think our previous productions clearly showed that,” said Foldager Sørensen, pointing to past Swedish collaborations including Border, The Wife and Aniara. She added that the companies planned “bigger and more focused investments in production in Sweden.”
She continued: “This is a natural development of our cultural kinship between Sweden and Denmark, and we look forward to collaborating with the many talented and exciting writers and directors in Sweden… Our ambition is to be an innovative and independent addition to the Swedish production landscape with a focus on high-quality original stories and with a clear Nordic voice.”
Dahlin, who will continue to be based in Stockholm, is the former CEO of Art & Bob Film & Drama. Her credits include Wallander, Beyond, Becoming Astrid, The Hundred Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window, Disappeared and The Giant.
Producer Mistre Tesfaye and assistant producer Pernilla Frykholm are also joining the team in Stockholm this month.
Sam Productions (TV) and Meta Film (features) are sister companies that continue to have their headquarters in Copenhagen. Foldager Sørensen’s previous film productions also include A Royal Affair and Lars von Trier’s Antichrist and Melancholia.
