The former svp of acquisitions has assumed the new newly created role of evp of theatrical distribution, effective immediately.
In his new position, Slone will oversee all Canadian acquisitions and cross-functional theatrical teams, working closely with the Films Canada marketing and sales executives.
The Toronto-based executive will also represent the Canadian group alongside global acquisitions teams to source product for the Canadian slate.
Slone will remain focused on eOne’s strategy of acquiring and distributing Canadian films across multiple territories and will collaborate with Harold van Lier’s international sales team and Xavier Marchand’s production division to secure multi-territory opportunities for Canadian films.
“I’ve had the privilege of working with Mark over many years and I am thrilled to announce his promotion,” said eOne Films Canada president Bryan Gliserman, to whom Slone will report.
“The force of our film businesses in Canada has been greatly strengthened by Mark’s significant contributions over the last year.”
“eOne is partnered with the finest Hollywood independent studios and the Canadian film line-up is exceedingly good,” said Slone, who joined eOne as svp of acquisitions in 2013 following eOne’s acquisition of Alliance Films.
Slone previously headed marketing and publicity for Odeon Films and publicity and promotions for Alliance Releasing. He began his career at Warner Bros promoting films on the McGill University campus.
