Mel Gibson has signed on to star as an iconoclastic talk show host in Romuald Boulanger’s thriller On The Line, that starts production in Paris today (June 9). It has already secured key territory sales through Fortitude International.
Boulanger is a former French radio host whose Connected was acquired by Amazon France last year.
Gibson portrays a radio host confronted with a hostile caller over the course of a single night. The cast includes Kevin Dillon, Enrique Arce, William Moseley, and Nadia Fares.
Nadine de Barros’ Fortitude International has concluded deals with SquareOne for Germany, Mediawan for France and Icon for Australia. Sales have also closed in Latin America (California Filmes), Eastern Europe (Vertical Distribution), Spain (Second Gen Pictures) and Italy (Eagle Pictures).
Boulanger is also producing On The Line with Robert Ogden Barnum, and Marc Frydman. Pierre Caravano serves as executive producer alongside Three Point Capital’s Ali Jazayeri and David Gendron, BondIt’s Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor, Caliwood Pictures’ Jina Panebianco and Wesley Sierk, and Joseph Panebianco.
Romuald’s French production company R-Lines will oversee production on the ground in Paris.
Gibson recently wrapped production on the drama Father Stu opposite Mark Wahlberg.
This is a busy time for Fortitude International as it continues to grow its production activities. The company recently wrapped shooting on First Love starring Diane Kruger and Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Mack & Rita with Diane Keaton, and Shriver starring Kate Hudson, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson and Zach Braff.
