Michael Keaton will star in and direct the noir thriller Knox Goes Away, which FilmNation, ICM Partners and Verve will introduce to buyers on the Croisette.
Gregory Poirier wrote the screenplay about a contract killer diagnosed with a fast-moving form of dementia who gets the chance to redeem himself by saving the life of his estranged adult son.
However to do so he must race against the police closing in on him as well as the ticking clock of his own rapidly deteriorating mind. Production has been scheduled for a late August start in Los Angeles.
Producers are Brookstreet’s Trevor Matthews and Nick Gordon and Sugar23’s Michael Sugar and Ashley Zalta. Carter Stanton will serve as executive producer for Brookstreet and Jillian Kay for Sugar23.
FilmNation handles international sales, while ICM Partners and Verve Ventures jointly represent US rights.
Keaton was recently seen in the Hulu limited series Dopesick, on which he also served as executive producer. He earned a SAG Award, Critics’ Choice Award and Golden Globe for best actor in a limited series or movie made for TV. He will next be seen in Warner Bros/DC Entertainment’s June 2023 release The Flash.
