Latvia’s candidate for the Oscars picked up for all rights distribution.
Latvian film Mother, I Love You by Janis Nords, winner of jury awards at this year’s Berlinale Generation and LA Film Festival, has secured further distribution deals ahead of its HFPA screening in Los Angeles.
New Europe Film Sales, the international sales company handling the film, has secured a deal with Children’s Film Society India and is understood to be negotiating several other agreements.
The film centres on 12-year-old Raimonds, who, while trying to cover up a bad note at school, generates a spiral of lies, which spins out of control. He has to venture into the Riga night to save his saxophone, his friendship and his face in front of his mother.
