The Netherlands Film Fund has appointed former International Film Festival Rotterdam artistic director and Eye Filmmuseum director Sandra den Hamer as its new interim CEO.
The news was confirmed in a statement from the Film Fund on Monday (April 3).
Den Hamer has been appointed to the post – one of the most important in the Dutch industry – on a part-time basis. She is assuming the position from Peter Schrurs, who has been serving as interim director since the start of the year.
Bero Beyer, the current director of the fund, stepped down from the job on a temporary basis for health-related reasons in January. Bero’s recovery “unfortunately requires a longer period of rest than previously anticipated,” the Fund statement explained.
“Film and film culture in the Netherlands are close to my heart. I look forward to stepping in and working together with my colleagues at the Fund and the Dutch film sector,” den Hamer commented.
She will oversee the selective funding policy of the Fund, stakeholder relationships and preparations for the Fund’s new policy plan. She is also likely to be leading the Dutch delegation in Cannes next month.
Daily management tasks at the Fund will remain in the hands of business director George van Breemen.
“We are delighted that Sandra den Hamer is willing to spend the coming months working together with staff and stakeholders from the sector to contribute to a diverse, high-quality film culture and production climate in the Netherlands. We wish Bero Beyer a full and speedy recovery,” stated Laetitia Griffith, chair of the Fund’s supervisory board.
