New DaVinci Resolve release features support for Retina displays

Blackmagic Design has announced the release of DaVinci Resolve 9.1.

The update will enable use of Resolve with Apple’s Macbook Retina technology, the world’s highest resolution notebook display.

Retina-based notebooks are becoming increasingly common post production tools. DaVinci 9.1 will be able to run on the 15” Retina MacBook Pro at the best image quality setting.

The DaVinci Resolve update also features support in XML for FCP X Audition, a popular feature in FCP X. Improvements in mixed frame rate XML integration aim to allow better workflows between Resolve, FCP X and Final Cut Pro 7. The update also supports improvements for Avid AAF, Sony XAVC and AVC-Intra files and other audio and performance improvements.

The new version also includes an enhancement for the CinemaDNG file format, used by the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. It includes a CinemaDNG Input Device Transform (IDT) for grading RAW images in full ACES workflows and can also now be used with the DeckLink 4K Extreme, Blackmagic’s ne addition to the DeckLink family of PCI Express capture cards.

DeckLink 4K Extreme includes all the features of the DeckLink HD Extreme 3D card, plus UltraHD 4K playback.

DaVinci Resolve 9.1 for Mac, Windows and Linux is now available for download from the Blackmagic Design website free of charge for existing full feature DaVinci Resolve customers. DaVinci Resolve Lite 9.1 public beta is available for both Mac OS X and Windows and is free to all users.
