New Regency has secured a library investment from Shamrock Capital as well as production and library credit facilities from a syndicate of banks led by JP Morgan Chase.

Investment firm Shamrock’s Content Strategy division is making a long-term investment in New Regency’s film and TV library, which has been amassed over 35 years and includes Oscar-winning features such as The Revenant, Birdman and 12 Years a Slave. The arrangement is understood to give Shamrock a long-term participation in cash flows from the library.

The JP Morgan syndicate is providing New Regency’s production arm with a credit facility for new film, TV and media projects, including some that New Regency said will be “building on its past IP.” The syndicate is also providing a separate credit facility supporting the New Regency library.

New Regency’s upcoming feature projects include Cormac McCarthy adaptation Blood Meridian, written by John Logan and directed by John Hillcoat, and Watch Dogs, based on Ubisoft’s video game franchise. Recent features have included Steve McQueen’s Blitz, for Apple TV+, and Focus Features release The Bikeriders

The Hollywood production and finance company said it will also continue to expand into documentaries, interactive gaming, live theatre and publishing.

New Regency chairman and CEO Yariv Milchan commented: “New Regency has always taken a nimble, creator-first approach to the business. By aligning with Shamrock, a partner that shares our vision and values, we’re able to position the library as a dynamic asset within the company’s broader content ecosystem strategy — one that will allow the asset to continue to thrive independently while we pursue bold, new creative endeavors.”

Shamrock Capital partners Jason Sklar and Patrick Russo added: “We are thrilled to partner with New Regency’s leadership team as they embark on their next phase of growth through this innovative financing transaction. Our investment philosophy centers on supporting premium and evergreen content, and New Regency’s acclaimed film and television library, which includes iconic titles and award-winning stories, is best in class across the global landscape of independent studios.”
